Function of Beauty Review

I know it’s been a while since I wrote a blog. I don’t know what it is about fall but I swear that every single weekend gets booked up faster than I can breathe or…your cat gets Tapeworm and fleas and you have to clean and wash everything in your house. Ugh.

Anyway, I tried some exciting new things in the last few weeks thanks to being super susceptible to Facebook advertising and one of those things was the Function of Beauty shampoo and conditioner.

I know that you have to have seen the ads. They are usually articles in your Newsfeed that are something along the lines of “I tried this custom shampoo and conditioner and it changed my life” or “Why I’ll never go back to traditional shampoo again.”

As hokey as these articles are, I have to say…they aren’t as full of nonsense as you might think.

After seeing the ads for something like a year with increasing frequency, I decided to bite the bullet and take their little hair quiz to see what my custom formula would be.

I breezed through the quiz selecting wavy hair, medium hair structure, oily scalp moisture, and the hair goals of strengthening, volumizing, thermal heat protection, anti-fizz, and shine. They also have you choose the color (purple for me) and fragrance (sandalwood violet).

After I finished the quiz, I still wasn’t convinced and didn’t actually order until the next day.

I hesitated because I had been loving my shampoo and conditioner bar, but lately, I had started to notice that they were leaving me with a weird oily spot on the crown of my scalp and it was getting really annoying to deal with. So, I figured that I had nothing to lose by testing Function of Beauty.

I had to wait about 10 days for my custom formula to come but when it did…man oh man was I impressed with the packaging. It was elegant and organized and the bottles were gorgeous. They even throw in two little pumps to make your shampoo and conditioner easy to dispense.

I was so excited to try it in the shower and I was not disappointed.

Fair warning, it does not foam up like normal shampoo and conditioner so don’t expect big bubbles. That being said, it got my hair squeaky clean with not a ton of product (I maybe used two pumps of each and that got the job done).

When I hopped out of the shower and towel-dried my hair, I could already tell a difference. It was softer and seemed more manageable. I let my hair air dry and it was shiny and bouncy and felt so great.

I slept on it while it was still a little damp and woke up with it feeling really good with none of the oily crown nonsense I had been dealing with for two months. As an added bonus, I almost had my natural texture from years ago back! It was easy to style and I couldn’t get over how soft it felt. It was like I just walked out of a salon.

The sandalwood and violet smell lasted well into my second day hair and I could not stop smelling it. Even better, my second day hair looked better than it ever had. I even did an experiment this weekend and pushed it to three days and while it’s not my norm my hair honestly looked better on that third day than it looked on most second days when I was washing with my shampoo bar.

Overall review: 10 out of 10, would highly recommend. It is absolutely worth every cent of the $36 and the 10-day wait to get it.

My hair has never felt better and it been so much easier to style and manage. I actually can honestly say that it feels like it is getting healthier as I use the shampoo and conditioner more and more.

Bottom line: If you have been at all curious about trying Function of Beauty or are the slightest bit unsatisfied with your current haircare routine, it is well worth it to give Function of Beauty a shot!
