Non-Keto Weekend...Ouch
So. I haven’t written for a while. That’s largely due in part to starting a new job and adjusting to a new routine. Thankfully, I was able to keep up with all my exercising, but my ketoing…that’s taken a nose dive.
Thankfully, it hasn’t really derailed me that much and I’ve been pretty good about minimizing the carbs that I do eat. For example, I ate tacos and tortilla chips a few times in the last three weeks, but on the days that I ate those, that was pretty much the only meal that I ate.
This weekend was a bit of an expectation to that careful balance.
My new company, Wholesale Supplies Plus, put on a huge soap conference this last weekend. We had this last one for June and we have another one coming up in July.
There was plenty of food available and I totally could have eaten keto the entire weekend, but I didn’t. I thought that because we were all rushing around and busy it was okay for me to put the keto strictness down for three days.
It was a bad move.
I never felt full.
For example, on Friday night I ate a slice of pizza and some salad. I was hungry by the time I got home. Then I woke up early to get to the conference for Saturday and was starving! I went through the breakfast line and got a made to order omelet and a scone…and then a little pastry. I still didn’t really feel satisfied.
I kept eating the meals that were provided but my body didn’t know what the hell to do with all of it. It was too many empty carbs and not nearly enough protein and fat.
Major no fun zone.
Thankfully, Nate was amazing and had a great meal of steak and asparagus waiting for me Saturday night. I felt so good after it. I was full and didn’t have a headache or stomachache and went to bed feeling satisfied.
If only I would have learned my lesson then and taken the hint….
At the conference breakfast the next morning I had granola with fruit and yogurt. Solid meal and light. Then I had a bagel….
Bad news bears.
My stomach was so upset. It hated that bagel and made it super clear to me that I needed to stop the nonsense with the carbs. Point taken body.
So this week I’m back on track. I am back to careful keto and keeping those extra calories to a minimum. I just feel so much better on keto. I feel full and I don’t have headaches, stomach aches or other weird things.
I had been wondering for a few weeks if I could ever stop keto and go back to eating normally…answer is no. I guess I am glad I learned. Keto from now on. The stomach aches and stuff just aren’t worth it.
I promise that I will be better about actually writing. I've felt a little hazy without it to keep me focused on goals and major mile markers for those goals. I'm going to get back to a real schedule. *Writing in bullet journal now*
Apologies if my tone is off on this one. I'm trying to get back in the swing of things. I'll be back and on track ASAP. Just you wait.
