"Women look better without big muscles"
I am a member of a closed Facebook group all about eating keto and lifting. Traditionally, many people believe that you have to eat carbs in order to develop muscles. But that’s not necessarily true. This group has found ways to make lifting on keto totally viable for building muscles and let me tell you, some of the people in that group have developed some impressive as hell strength and definition.
Usually as part of my morning routine I browse the Facebook group. I check to see if I can help answer questions and scan comments and posts to see if anyone is asking questions that would help me with keto and lifting. There are some really knowledgeable people in the group. If you ask about basically any supplement, lift form, type of food, or the physical changes of keto, people have an answer for you.
Today was no different. A woman who is starting her lifting routine while being keto asked about taking Creatine. Creatine is a natural supplement that has been found to improve performance and the gym and help develop muscles. A lot of people who are serious about lifting and developing lean muscles mass take it.
So this woman asked about Creatine because she said it was giving her stomach aches and wanted to know what would cause it and if anyone had any suggestions for her to help with the stomach pains.
Totally reasonable and standard question for the group.
People started responding to the post and giving suggestions. I had been curious about Creatine so I read through the comments to see what people thought of it. Then I stumbled on this gem of a comment thread.
Yeah….so. There are a few things wrong with this.
Women can take whatever supplements they damn well please.
Creatine can help people reach their muscles building fitness goals. She wants muscles and definition, ergo Creatine.
Who the fuck asked this guy’s opinion on if women do or do not look good with muscles?
The snowflake comment….COME ON!
You didn't upset people because you gave an opinion and asked a question, you upset people because your comment was misogynist and frankly stupid.
I am so tired of guys saying that girls don’t look good with muscles. To each their own. If you don’t like girls with muscles, don’t date them. But you aren’t allowed to shit all over someone’s fitness goals because they don’t fit into your tiny little box of “this is what a woman should be.”
Women are strong as hell. More and more women are starting to lift because it's fun. It makes us feel stronger. And it makes us look damn good. If I or any woman wants big muscles, we are allowed to do it by whatever means we want. If that involves Creatine, so be it. Just shut up and stop being an asshole about it.
Women don’t need to look a certain way to be attractive.
And newsflash: we aren’t doing it for you. We’re doing it for ourselves.
So back off and leave us alone. We want to learn how to reach out fitness goals, not be lectured on how those goals now make us attractive to you.
Also...I bet she (and almost any girl in the Facebook group) can lift more than you...so….take your fragile masculinity somewhere else.
